It's TEDx Tuesday, and over the past few weeks, I've been sharing clips from my talk.
People have asked me what it was like to stand on that little red circle.
It was amazing.
Not only because I was standing on a TEDx stage, but because I had the opportunity to share something that came from my heart.
Recently, I had the gift of hearing someone describe me to another person.
She spoke about me with such kindness and generosity that I almost wanted to interrupt.
"Are we talking about the same person?"
She wasn't flattering me. She was simply sharing how she experiences me.
Listening to her didn't just make me feel seen. It made me want to become the person she already believed I was.
My immediate thought wasn't, "Thank you."
It was, "Well... you bring out the heart in me."
We spend so much of our lives trying to become more.
A better partner.
A better parent.
A better leader.
A better friend.
A better version of ourselves.
But maybe we don't become those things alone. Maybe the people who love us, encourage us, challenge us, and truly see us help call those qualities forward.
They don't change who we are.
They bring out our hearts.
And that's what I felt standing on the TEDx stage.
My heart was wide open.
Believing that what I learned through stage IV cancer might help someone facing something completely different.
That's the beautiful thing about our stories. We never really know who needs to hear them.
One sentence can inspire.
One question can shift a perspective.
One moment can change the course of someone's life.
I love that!
So today, I have two questions for you.
Who brings out the heart in you?
And...
Who might need you to bring out theirs?
If someone came to mind... maybe today is a good day to tell them.
Love,
Jenn
P.S. Since it's TEDx Tuesday, I'm sharing another clip from my talk today. If you haven't watched the full TEDx yet, I'd love for you to watch it. And if it speaks to you, I'd be honored if you shared it with someone else. You never know when one sentence, one question, or one moment might be exactly what someone needs.
